The automation of e-learning saves time and resources without having to forego individual content. Here you can find out everything you need to know about automating e-learning and the advantages and disadvantages of using templates, asset libraries, and other automation tools.
Many e-learning authors are already working with templates, assets and backgrounds. The ready-made contents are part of almost every authoring system and with their help content can be created inexpensively and easily. However, automation methods now go far beyond that. There are a number of other applications and solutions for creating e-learning courses automatically. With the help of AI systems and coding solutions, you are able to create courses largely automatically and at the same time personalized. Do you think that contradicts itself? Here you can find out why this is not the case and what makes automated e-learning so special.
When it comes to automating e-learning, it’s all about algorithms. Algorithms have become an indispensable part of our modern world: They are the basis for programming of all kinds, correct spelling in Office programs, control search results on Google, show us the shortest route to our destination in our navigation device and hit online dating suitable partners.
Briefly explained, an algorithm is a mathematical procedure for solving a defined problem1. Various tasks are processed using a solution plan.
In e-learning, algorithms are a series of computer codes that control the display and content of courses. This can be, for example, content that is automatically generated according to the requirements of a participant. In practice, a program code is created that generates a specific response after entering a command. You can decide for yourself what this command looks like: it can be the result of a test or a performance assessment. If a participant has passed a test, certain content is displayed to him. If it does not meet the requirements, the code generates other content, such as a list of suggestions for improvement.
There are a number of e-learning systems that can be used to create automated assessments. The system accesses already created content and uses it to generate an online quiz or test, for example. In this way, you can quickly and easily query the level of knowledge of the course participants and monitor learning progress, much more efficiently than with manual methods.
Algorithms also make it easier to personalize e-learning courses. The system “knows” the previously edited content and makes new tasks available based on it. In addition, it recognizes weaknesses in the processing of previous courses and can focus the following learning units more on these topics – and vice versa.
